The Guardians (Shimmer): Meanwhile, in astral space

After a few seconds of disorientation, she finds herself inside the zoo; but there are no animals and most of the plant life is dark and sinister looking. It also looks *way* more like the African jungle than it does Denver: a single mountain is visible in the background (instead of the rockies).
Shimmer blinked her eyes twice to orient herself to the sudden change in her surroundings. "Holy...sh...wow. This isn't real...this is just an illusion..." Taking a deep breath she let it out slowly and was about to center herself when a voice stopped her dead in her tracks.
Several meters from her stands a dark form. "You! Tell them all to leave. This is my kingdom now!" The voice is forceful and nearly overpowering in her mind. It is not a human voice; or if it is, the accented English is like nothing she has heard before.
"I will call back my forces when the last human has left us alone." He says again. "You did this to us! And now, you will not put us back. Will NOT!"
To Shimmer, the voice sounds very much like a child's tantrum.
"Whoa. Easy now." Anna cooed, much as if she were speaking to a spooked horse. The power of the being surrounded her and made her heart pound with fear. Her absolute most solid belief about her own powers was that mentalists were not meant to fight alone. ...and now here she was part of a team and yet she managed to find herself all alone against a friggin astral mental demon throwing a tantrum.
A part of her was frustrated by the situation until in occurred to her that running into infantile beasts was pretty much what she did as an officer of the peace. "I'm very sorry that you're upset." Her voice started with the slightest quiver and then swelled into her normal confident tone.
"I understand that you're upset..." That's what you do with children wasn't it... acknowledge, acknowledge, acknowledge. Dylan always responded well to that, not that he was a child but still. "...and I would be happy to help you with your problem. BUT." Her voice was firm and bold. "You must stop hurting people immediately or I CAN NOT help you. I want to help you. I do not want you to be upset. I need you to stop your animals from attacking the people. Can you do that?"
“Who *I* hurt?” Came the reply. “I just here – and man do this to me. Now, entire community in my head. I tell them – run the people out! Bring this place back just for us. This place is wrong – but it is the only home we have. And you not take it away from us.”
The voice did soften to her tone – and in place of the dark form, she began to see a smaller gorilla – probably still a young child. But, his head was horribly distended and bulbous. Pulsing veins were visible around his thick, gorilla neck. He seemed both more monstrous and more human that a gorilla should. Anna was certain that it was a male.
The sight of the gorilla made Anna's stomach churn with sympathy. Oh dear God. The form could sense the compassion flowing from her as she took two timid steps towards him.
The other odd detail was in his hand. He was holding a syringe-gun; not waving it about – just holding it as if it were nothing (not even a tool).
"What is that?" She gestured towards the syringe almost forgetting the greater danger that raged at the zoo.

"Can you please speak to the animals and ask them to stop chasing the humans? ...and then I can do whatever is in my power to help you." Shimmer's eyes brimmed with sincerity.
