SoHK Chapter 6: Motion, Motion, Motion

As far as plans went, theirs was just beginning. macha had agreed, in principle, to visit Wien the talismonger, in the interests of purchasing a mild powered summoning focus. Fact of the matter was, she didn't have the kind of money that Wein was asking for; not that Wien was gouging her or in any way trying to screw her over, but in the most rudimentary of senses, Wien had a product for which demand was ever increasing. She was responding to the invisible market pressures, the ebb and flow and currents of street business that demanded she shift her prices to adapt. Those shifts, with the recent prosperity, weren't in macha's favour.

Wraith, on the other hand, had spent the better part of the last hour sorting through the data he'd been able to assemble. Information had been primarily focused on layouts of the hospital, and any other information about it he could find. The datawarehouse had proven a little better protected than he'd hoped, but before heat was on him, he'd escaped with more than a few tidbits of info. Having now had the chance to review it, he found floor plans and layouts of the hospital were readily available to them.

Sadly, they were from when the hospital was constructed. While the layouts had given him an idea of what it would be like on the inside, it didn't indcate what room the machine in question would be in. That would take some intuition and consideration.

That left Caliban and Blank to remain in the room, while Tze, Moose, and Gleer reminisced about the old days. Nearly thirty five minutes after making the call, their talk was interrupted by a knock at the door. Moose answered, to find a pizza delivery Elf there. The Elf had an intelligent look about him, sharp features and a considerate eye that indicated pizza delivery was above his station. It was suspicious enough at that, but was made moreso when Moose paid nearly four hundred dollars for the pie.

He turned, and flipped the top of the pizza box open for Caliban and Blank to see; there they were, three silencers, all in a row, shiny as the day they were stolen.

Their plan was coming together, but there were still three pieces they were missing. Firstly, they needed hospital uniforms. Secondly, they needed ID cards. Third, and perhaps more difficult, they needed an ambulance ...

Joe smiled and picked up one of the heavy pistol silencers and screwed it onto the threads of his Predator. His eyes responded by changing the reticle from green to blue, and adjusted (slightly) the aim of the weapon. He unscrewed it and placed the silencer in a pouch on his belt, and returned the predator to its place. "Any chance you'll share the name of your pizza place?" He asked Tze.

He looked at Caliban, "We're probably going to have to steal the unifroms off of some unsuspecting employees." He didn't say what would happen to those employees. "We need to see about getting some fast fakes made. If we have righteous IDs, maybe we can dupe in our pics. Hopefully, Wraith will know something about that. Then, 'all' we'll need is an ambulance. I suggest that we try and take a hospital wagon and not a Doc Wagon - those guys always seem to be armed." He looked around the room for suggestions, "And, one day I'd like to have their service. It wouldn't do to be black-listed."

"Best way to get ambulance is call for one," macha said, yawning and stretching from her trip into astral. "Ambush driver, other guys, take their clothes, take their gear."

"Yeah." Joe said, "But, if we do it that way, we have to have everything ready to go when it gets here. Doing it that way puts us on a hard clock." Still, it would solve the problem of finding and stealing one that wasn't in use and wouldn't be missed for a few hours.

"We're also going to need someplace safe to stash the ambulance crew." He said, "We're not getting paid enough to murder them; and we can't just let them run around loose."

Tze, having listened thus far, raised his hand.

"Presumptuous, perhaps, but we can take care of that, I'm sure. A little babysitting is the least we can do."

macha smiled, wise and wild. "There you go, Blank-man. Not kill for money, not kill for fun -- but maybe Moose will." She scampered over to retrieve her comm unit, grimacing as it promptly initiated a shutdown of its own volition. Frustrated, she pushed it into Caliban's oversiized hands. "I don't know how much nuyen we got, prob'ly not enough to pay Wien though. Make this thing work, okay?"

Blank nodded, "No, that works fine." He said, "If you'll hold the crew, that solves that problem." Using the Johnson like this didn't feel good to him. It felt wrong; but it also seemed like the most expedient plan. If the Johnson wanted them dead - he would have already tried by now. "Yeah - that'll work."

!! If the plan changes, that's cool. To move things along, I just posted this. Again, revise away if needs be. !!
